I hold a 3.93 GPA at this lovely university. I make no less than an A-. I will graduate in 2017 and go back for my bachelors. Whomever doesn't like this school..TOUGH..Find another school to go to. No one has the time to read your ridiculous complaints. I am more than sure that your behind will make a complaint against the next school you attend. Online classes are not for everybody. The stupidity with uneducated folks who cannot spell worth a *** in discussion board posts and then go and make a complaint against AIU after dropping out is astounding. I do not hear you fools.

The complaints are not ridiculous. I attended AIU and earned a BBA in Accounting.

I too had a high grade point average. The degree did nothing to help me, and I think AIU's accounting classes are grossly deficient to what one would experience at a reputable university. I have a job, but it is the same kind of job I could have easily gotten without an accounting degree. All I have is debt.

AIU is basically a fraud and a scam. Anyone who doesn't believe this should check out real colleges and see what the course expectations are.

American Intercontinental University - Program Review from Spring Valley, Nevada

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I was dismissed from the AIU online MBA program, due to a medical emergency related to my disability, which I was placed on medication. As a result, the side effects influenced my physical and mental status and effected my academic performance. During that period, I had received a failing grade on my Unit 3 assignments, which dropped my final grade to a B-. I was on academic probation from being removed from the program six years earlier.Because I did not receive a B, I was removed from the program. I filed an appeal, and asked to be reinstated. I received an email that it would take 5 to 10 weeks to review the appeal. Two days later, I received an email the my appeal was denied, that I was permanently removed from AIU, and would never be allowed back. The next two years I was in a legal battle with AIU charging them with discrimination based on my disability. I filed a federal lawsuit, which was dismissed WITHOUT prejudice (which means I could refile later), and the dispute was ordered to arbitration, which was in the enrollment agreement. At the conclusion of the arbitration, the ruling was in my favor, and AIU lost. However, the so-called "award"the arbitrator ordered, was that AIU was to allow me to resubmit the Unit 3 assignments for which I received a failing grade. During the two year legal battle, AIU repeatedly offered me reinstatement, for which I cinstantly refused. I told that arbitrator, that I would not accept the so-called "award" and would not resubmit the assignments, or accept any form if reinstatement. He ignored my position, and forced upon me an involuntary 30 period in case I changed I changed my my mind. I did not comply with the directive of the arbitrator, and tge assignments were never submitted. Bottom line, when you enroll in AIU, there is an arbitration claus in the contract, in which you waive your right to sue. My advice, go to another school.

AIU Online

I am kind of surprised to hear all of these lousy reviews. I've been attending AIU since March 2013 and have been as happy as I could be with an online school. The Intellipath is understandable and as long as you have a good internet connection does great. I have used tech support for various issues and they have always been courteous and able to solve my issues (You can contact them by phone or instant message). I did have to work through an issue with a payment not being posted correctly, but was able to resolve it without too much hassle. The instructors have always been helpful and responsive as well. As far as the quality of instruction, I would give them a B+, but it isn't Harvard and I don't expect a Harvard education out of the deal. Anyway, I just wanted to give a different perspective. Thanks for reading. Kelly

Fortunate for you Kelly. I also loved my classes (online and on campus).

I received a BA Degree from AIU but no companies acknowledge such degree. I get no additional credit for my degree. It is useless!

My nephew received a degree from Nova SE for less money. :/

Programming Issues involving Intellipath, Faculty and technical support

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
First of all. I really enjoy the instructors and the amiable atmosphere. I enjoy the courses, how they are laid out and the information provided as assistance. I enjoy working online. The part i do not understand, is when a student has a situation, that does not relate to topics within the University S.O.P., PROTOCOL, student handbook or other sources of information, absolutely no assistance is provided. Student advising is conducted by student robots, programmed by AIU Bureaucratic B.S., to only answer all questions with generically provided information. "*** Is As *** does", is how I feel about reentering the university, after already withdrawing once before. My reason for withdrawing this time, is the EXACT SAME REASON, I withdrew before! Intellipath id a learning program that provides computer generated lectures, followed by a multiple choice array of questions, that are closely graded. The work is simple, the completion of the nodes are easy. But,not when the screen freezes, the program marks answers incorrectly, that are proven to be correct and to begin the assignment again, means more questions, more difficulty and information that was not inclusive in the original node. Upon contacting technical support, I was always re-routed to the Philippines, New Deli or some other, NON-ENGLISH SPEAKING, THIRD WORLD COUNTRY. No one speaks English well enough to assist students and when they do? They pass the buck or claim the student did not follow instructions properly. The last time I called Tech support for assistance, I asked a student adviser, to stay on the line with me. After forty minutes of garbled dialect, the tech support rep. told me to contact my instructor and ask how I could complete the Intellipath assignment by some other means? The student adviser was empathetic, sympathetic and most importantly....WHIMPER-THETIC! They had no advise as to how a correction could be made. I am now withdrawing from the college, never to attend another broken down educational programs.

AIU is a scam and rip-off

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

After graduating with my very expensive accounting degree, I could not even find a minimum wage job, much less any job remotely related to accounting. I did not have a job at the time I graduated, and my only source of income was $485.00 from my tenant.

I even applied for a paper route and low-paying jobs like store clerk. Finally, 2 1/2 years later, I got a position working as an accounting assistant. I later found out that this was one of the lowest paying jobs in the department in which I worked. Out of approximately 300 employees, there were maybe 2 or 3 who made less money than I did.

In addition, the job required absolutely no skills beyond what could acquired in high school. As my job search dragged on without success, I finally realized that I would have better results had I gone to brick and mortar school rather than a rip-off predatory institution like AIU. You can't get a job because employers know the degrees are worthless. When I called AIU to complain, the counselor tried to talk me into re-enrolling at AIU to get a Master's degree in accounting.

All job seekers and students should beware of all of these predatory institutions. They should be required to inform all prospective students that they are for-profit and that their shareholder's interests will always come before the interests of students. This warning should come with every verbal and written communication with the school. In addition, I found out later that AIU had accreditation issues in the past, but of course I was never informed of this.

If a school ever loses its accreditation, it should be required to inform current and prospective students. AIU is a scam and rip-off.

American Intercontinental University - Class Action Lawsuit Review from Wildwood, Missouri

I was a student and also worked at CEC. I was told my tuition was paid except for $500 dollars a quarter.

I was accused of plagiarism and the instructor said I would receive an"F" or had to drop. Keep in mind I was a instructor at in the CEC's schools. When I ask for documentation to back if the claim it could not be provided. I was 3 classes away from graduation.

I dropped the class and re-took the class with an "A"this time around. After completing my degree, they will not give me my diploma because now I have to pay for the class I dropped. I worked for their company and had tutition assistance. My colleague dropped a class and did not have to pay for the class.

This school is a rip off just like U of P.

2 years later and I still have not received my degree or transcript.

Maybe we can get a class action lawsuit started!!

I have 3 degrees from AIU totaling over $135,000 in loans and in the same boat as all of you. I believe a class action suit should be federally.

Guest

Before I started at AIU they convince me to sign for a student loan and then allow me to complete the first term of school before receiving my proof of education my diploma/transcript and they have not gave me my stinifien that I was supposed to receive

Guest

I was a student and got charged more money then what I was told the classes would cost, promised that they would help me find a job and all they did was help with my resume, me degrees are worthless and now I can't get the financial aid I need to go to a good school.

Guest

I have contacted an attorney and I am waiting to hear back from their class action department. I will start a class action if I am able to and I would love to form a group.

I am tired of talking about it and doing nothing.

It has been 7 years for me with no degree and a huge debt to the dept of education. This has to be stopped.

Original review Sep 22, 2014
I would be VERY interested in a class action lawsuit against AIU online for fraudulent acceptance of student loan monies they took from me and then provided inferior, abusive, and negligent services.

I endured several months of harassment while I maintained a 3.0. Several staff conspired to submit falsified findings on a flawed official grade review, two instructors used illegitimate grading procedures, and my freedom of speech was utterly violated each day for a span of ten days.

After every attempt to receive fair treatment failed, finally, I dropped out May 2013 because I could no longer eat or sleep.
I don't regret leaving with my life. In addition, I got schooled in AIU's confidence that consequence is NOT an issue.

I am a "graduate" of this school and I have not been considered for a single position that I applied for. I am a disabled veteran and went to the VA and talked to them about vocational rehabilitation and how much of my credits from AIU would transfer to a different degree or school and I was advised that little if anything I did at AIU despite earning 2 degrees would transfer and that some of my credits were given to me based on my military training and law enforcement training.

So basically I have $50,000 plus in student loan debt for two useless pieces of paper. I can be reached at shaunamy78@***.com

They fraudulently changed my grades and overcharged me for classes. Thay also gave my computer viruses on more than one occasion.

I was charged over $7,000 for 3 weeks of classes. I was physically acutally sued for the money a few years ago. 10 years after I went to AIU. I am now stuck with $10,000 in loan debt they triple charged me for, and I never even got an education.

Crazy thing is, is that I never even knew that they had taken out 2 loans in my name. I only applied for my FAFSA. How did they get several semesters out of me?

FRAUD that's how. If you know of a class action lawsuit, I will be one of the first to sign up!

American InterContinental University is a rip off! Something Should Be Done!

American InterContinental University is a rip off! While attending AIU Buckhead campus in Atlanta, GA I was manipulated to take out ridiculous amount of loans that were not really needed. I was told that I needed more loans to pay for remaining classes as I got closer to graduating. These were private loans that I was not even aware of. They also promised jobs and assisting you find one after graduating. 8 years later, I'm no way near paying off these loans. It seem as if the loans doubled. I'm stuck with loans for degree that triples my current yearly salary.

Spendy Unusable degrees

I went to AIU and did complete a Bachelors and two masters at the cost of $90k. I was a nurse when I started and just wanted to have a higher degree. The degrees have proven useless to anyone who has any knowledge of this type of school and they act like I just did nothing to earn the degrees. I did work hard but the AIU name just doesn't hold weight in the business world. This says nothing of the caliber of my instructors or what I learned. It just means that AIU does little to enhance their own good name and reputation and for those of us paying for that reputation, it is a spend mistake.

I agree with the degrees being useless. I got my BBA specializing in HRM and I could not get hired any HR dept. They talk a good story when they want your money; but after graduation you are on your own with a useless degree and high student loans to pay back.

Colleges and Universities are a big scam, and I have heard this from so many people before. Both of my oldest sisters went to college, and they never made it in their profession.

Nothing they learned in college was ever used to advance their lives in any way. Ha!

in order to make it in this life you either have to be born rich or hit the Powerball jackpot. All these people who go to these Colleges & Universities become educated fools (First you get an education, now your getting smart is their que).

American Intercontinental University

Today, all universities and colleges that are online, have a wonderful means of communication with students; but what happens when the student has to delay their academic progress just because the school discovered a missing document? While this would be my case American Intercontinental University. After having initiated more than 2 semesters and advanced with my academic ,They blocked my clasess and My Financial Aid was returned in full to Fafsa, this because their office found that i had to have my Diploma evaluated by a company that you have to pay aroud $ 100.00? . Mathematical errors and bureaucratic, Students have to suffer the consequeces of their mistakes. now with the Financial aid, they manipulate it at will, I mean that when it comes to claim a refund that were covered by your funding and I am certain amount that would be distributed to your expenses to buy books, etc.., They come out with the excuse of :"Oh you have pending a document, we will block your classes and you will not have access to your refund, have always had an excuse to manipulate my education. they know that we consumers do not have and we have no moral or physical support, because the law does not apply to economic empires as in this case and many. system is Broken and somebody need to do something about it.

First, proof of high school diploma or its equivalent is required to receive Title IV funding (commonly known as "Student Loans" or "Financial Aid"). It is quite common to have credentials earned in a foreign school evaluated.

This cost is generally passed on to the student as it is the student's responsibility to furnish this documentation. Furthermore, many schools require proof of high school graduation to even attend and are very proactive in contacting you regarding this necessary documentation.

If you are not attending school, you cannot and should not receive any kind of refund. Ultimately, it is the student's responsibility to complete all necessary documents.

You must work for them 'Anonymous' because this is something AIU should tell people before they start and not just get them enrolled and then pull their bs. Ask all the unhappy Admissions Advisors who work for AIU what they have to do to get a sale and don't blame the consumer. AIU encourages enrollment from International students who would not know these "rules" that are given as you go along after being lied to about how great it is.

AIU ATLANTA CAMPUS-Rude, Disrespectful, Lying Nest of Thieves!!

I served in the navy for 10 years and after making the choice to leave the navy to raise my son and attend school, after much research I chose AIU. The school seemed to meet all my needs, they offered the degree I wanted to major in and could attend class on campus and online. I enrolled and started classes in Oct 2011. Everything was going fine UNTIL it was time for AIU to pay the stipend they owed me. All of a sudden every excuse you could come up with they gave me in order to prevent from paying the money they owed me!!! Suddenly they couldn't find my high school transcript and they couldn't refund my money, well if that was indeed the case then the school shouldn't have enrolled me and then turn around and taken money that was paid to them by the VA if that was the case!! HAHAH they took the money not once but twice and contiues to say the VA has not paid them. And to make matters worse now all of a sudden I receive nasty emails saying I'm not attending my online classes and will be adminstratively withdrawn since I've missed 14 days...Really??? When I log on to my student portal for classes it clearly shows all my activity and unless I'm blind Nov 2 is no where near 14 days!! WTH This school is nothing but a joke and a scam to get your money and give you the run around!!! Beware of this sham of a school!!!

This school is all about the money. I attented one course and completed it and decided it was too much with the job at that time. So I tried to withdraw before the second class and the person I spoke with them said to just log in and try it and if it seems too much, u can withdraw. with on problem. I wanted to make sure I was not paying for a class i wasnt going to take. Well it turns out that he tricked me. If you log into the class at all, whether you withdraw or not, they make you pay for it. DONT GET SCREWED...They will get you.

AIU is money hungry

I am currently a student of AIU. They told me that I could take these courses at my own pace, but when I tried to opt to the decelerated program, their advisor got a little snooty and told me I couldn't. Cuz they take your money on a schedule and if you halt your education on money that they have received and spent, that is a problem for them. So please read the fine print that they give you. It's about 16 pages long, but their intention is to trap you into contract and get paid wheather u get educated or not.

The best thing you can do is to file a complaint with the Higher Learning Commission. This is the accreditation body for AIU Online a.k.a American Intercontinental University. File the complaints and follow through. Stop Career Education Corporation (the parent company), from continuing to "Fleece America". Who do you think ultimately gets burned by these predatory "for profit" institutions?

That's right, the taxpayer!

I was embarrassed that I attend 3 months of my life to this university. The academic level is for a child!!

Low IQ is required to attend. Stay away!!

Guest

It seems that education is not the main purpose at that university. As a human Resource specialist I take very careful consideration when I evaluate a candidate and the universities they are coming from.

Even though,I think that the selection process always makes "its magic". Within the selection process and the candidate usually doesn't reach the second interview then you check the university and they're some that are well known for not passing even the first interview. It is really sad...I will have my piece of advise here.

Do a conscious research and as the say goes...if you hear barks...the most possible is that there are dogs inside(of course this is a figuratively speech). Good luck to all!

Guest

Joseph, For 1 she never said anything about stopping mid-stream. Apparently AIU didn't teach you how to read.

Guest

AIU is a wonderful school. Just because you decided to stop mid-stream don't mean it's the school fault ***.

It's your fault. You could have not went to school at all and just kept working at the cafe.

You had all the time to read all 16 pages before you signed the agreement. Don't blame AIU just because your not smart enough to learn.!!!
